#X-Men

It’s been 15 years now since Bryan Singer’s X-Men, which, alongside Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, really paved way for the current wave of superheroes on the big screen. But a lot has changed since then. Filmmakers and studios are far less afraid of embracing the goofiness of their source material as they were back in 2000 – the endearing goofiness, not the cynical goofiness of Batman & Robin – and as a result it seems Singer has finally ditched the black leather of his X films in favor of the colorful outfits the X-Men have always been known for. Courtesy of EW, we have a bunch of official images of the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse that include some ridiculous hair and some amazing costumes. Olivia Munn’s Psylocke is basically perfect. Take a look:

EW covers almost always look gross and over-photoshopped so ignoring that… Damn. Really digging Fassbender’s new outfit – it’s really bulky and armored just like the comic counterpart I’m familiar with, and he’s got the right presence to rock it. Not too many guys could pull that off. As for Isaac’s Apocalypse… I mean, alright. He doesn’t look great to me but I’m willing to bet he looks better in-camera than he does on an unflattering, poorly-constructed EW cover. Aaaaaaand last but not least Olivia Munn is perf. That is all.

Again, really hoping Oscar Isaac looks better in-camera (and he’s unrecognizable and goofy in ways I’m excited about so fingers crossed). Loving Alexandra Shipp’s mohawk, though. Punk rock Storm is my spirit animal.

That hair, though.
