So this is the French filmmaking legend’s Interstellar?
According to Screen Daily, French filmmaker Claire Denis, most well-known for the incredible powerful Beau Travail, has locked in her next film – she’s making her English-language debut with a space movie co-written with British author Zadie Smith. Working with artists and astrophysicists alike, and stemming from an idea of her very own, this untitled space movie (that has no plot description as of yet) is basically her Interstellar, and for a filmmaker like Denis – who I would’ve never expected a film like this from – that’s pretty damn exciting.
The film’s producer, Oliver Dungey, had this to say about the project:
“I am delighted that Claire has been tempted to cross the channel and make a film in English; she is one of the greats of contemporary cinema and she’s assembled a quite extraordinary team to make exactly the kind of ambitious film that audiences cherish – completely original, genuinely pushing the boundaries of art and science and, above all, extremely entertaining.”
Not much else is known about the film other than it starts shooting in late 2015/early 2016, but I’m already hyped about it. The long wait begins.
