Mel Gibson, best know Mad Max and The Lethal Weapon series, picks up a gun to protect his estranged daughter in the new trailer and poster for the Blood Father. The remake of Assault on Precinct 13 director, Jean-François Richet, directs a script written by The Town writer, Peter Craig, adapted from his own book by the same name, and Straight Outta Compton writer, Andrea Berloff.

The film sees Gibson playing John Link, an ex-convict whose reunited with his estranged 16-year old daughter, Lydia, played by Captain Fantastic’s Erin Moriarty, and tries to protect her against the drug dealers that are trying to kill her. Rounding out the cast is character actor William H. Macy, and Star Wars Rogue One’s Diego Luna.

Distributed worldwide by Wild Bunch AG and Lionsgate in the U.S. Blood Father will be released in theatres August 12th 2016. With preview audience reactions almost completely positive, the world seems to be ready for Mel Gibson return to the action roots that started his career.
