The 89th Academy Award nominations are finally here with La La Land tying the record for most nominations (14) ever given to one film. There are no major surprises; maybe Amy Adams deserved to be nominated for her role in Arrival but she wasn’t. Amazon made Oscar history as first streaming service Best Picture nominee with Manchester By The Sea; and Mel Gibson’s name is back in bright lights thanks to his film Hacksaw Ridge.
