James Cameron, director of the franchise, has stated that we won’t have another Avatar movie in 2018 as it was expected. He told The Star that sequels have been delayed again due to plans of making the four follow-up films simultaneously. “We haven’t announced a firm release date. What people have to understand is that this is a cadence of releases. So we’re not making ‘Avatar 2’. We’re making ‘Avatar 2,3, 4 and 5.’ It’s an epic undertaking. It’s not unlike building the Three Gorges dam. So I know where I’m going to be for the next eight years of my life.”

As we know, Cameron is known for innovating the film industry and raising the bar when it comes to visual experiences in his films, so, it’s pretty likely it will be worth the wait.

What do you guys think? Are you anxious to see what the Na’vis are up to?
