Well, this looks incredibly promising! The latest trailer for Netflix zombie series “Kingdom,“ doesn’t hold back!
Directed by Kim Seong-hun, the series (Netflix’s second Korean original series) is set in Korea’s medieval Joseon period, and it tells the story of a crown prince who is sent on a suicide mission to investigate a mysterious plague that’s spreading across his country. The truth threatens the kingdom when he discovers that it is an atrocious epidemic in the form of zombies.
While strange rumors about their ill king grip a kingdom, the crown prince becomes their only hope against a mysterious plague overtaking the land.
The series is adapted from the webcomic series “Land of the Gods”, which was written by Kim Eun-hee. Apparently, each episode cost more than $1.5 million to produce.
“Kingdom captured our imaginations from the moment we read the script with its visual feast of historical drama blended with supernatural fantasy,” said Netflix’s VP of international originals, Erik Barmack, when the project was announced last year. “We are incredibly honored by this rare opportunity of pairing two premiere creative minds in Korea – film director Kim Seong-hun and television writer Kim Eun-hee.”.
“Kingdom” premieres on January 25, 2019.
