Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight Season 2 Return Uncertain—Creator Says Decision Up to Marvel, Hints at Possible Comeback

Oscar Isaac’s role in Moon Knight season 2 remains up in the air, as series creator Jeremy Slater has revealed he has not spoken with Marvel about the character’s future and believes the decision rests with higher-ups at Marvel Studios. Speaking candidly about Moon Knight’s roadmap, Slater emphasized the uncertainty around the superhero’s return and left open the possibility of a comeback for Oscar Isaac in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Jeremy Slater Shares Doubts on Moon Knight’s Immediate Return

Jeremy Slater, the mind behind Moon Knight, explained that he is currently not aware of any plans involving Oscar Isaac or the series moving forward. Slater admitted he has not interacted with Marvel representatives lately, meaning any developments relating to Moon Knight would be happening without his direct input. This uncertainty echoes wider fan speculation regarding where the mysterious hero will appear next within the Marvel TV landscape or beyond.

Oh, God, I have no idea. If we do, I probably would not be involved,

Slater is now focusing on his own directing career, aiming to begin filming a new project in August, and is pursuing new opportunities which remove him from the Marvel television schedule for an extended period. He noted that working on television can keep creators tied to one project for several years, and his current endeavors are now in a different direction.

I am trying to launch my directing career. I am hoping to shoot in August. We are out to an Oscar-winning actor right now and waiting on his response, so it’s very exciting. TV takes you off the board for two or three years.

Marvel’s Leadership Holds the Keys to Moon Knight’s Future

When asked about the fate of a potential second season for Moon Knight, Slater acknowledged the decision would ultimately be made by Kevin Feige and Oscar Isaac. The creator himself shared that he is out of the loop, having last communicated with Marvel several years ago, and no longer knows anything about contract negotiations or plans in development.

If there is another Moon Knight, the ball is in Kevin Feige and Oscar Isaac’s court. I don’t know the details of their contract,

Still, Slater speculated that with Feige overseeing the Marvel universe, a return for the hero would not be surprising, provided there is a new and compelling story to tell. He made it clear, however, that this is simply his own opinion as a fan and not based on privileged information.

Once Kevin figures out the best way to use that character, what is the right story and who are the right storytellers to bring that to life, I would be shocked if we didn’t see him again at some point. But, that’s me speculating as a fan. I have no inside knowledge. I haven’t talked to anyone at Marvel in a couple of years.

The Uncertain Landscape for Marvel’s Disney Plus Heroes

Since debuting on Disney Plus in 2022 as part of Marvel Phase 4, Moon Knight quickly gained attention for Oscar Isaac’s portrayal of Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Jake Lockley, and Moon Knight himself. The protagonist’s battle against Egyptian deities and antagonist Arthur Harrow, played by Ethan Hawke, spanned six episodes and introduced viewers to a hero grappling with dissociative identity disorder and multiple personas, including a distinctive British accent.

Despite the show’s initial impact, Moon Knight has not appeared in any major live-action follow-ups outside of a brief animated cameo in What If? season 3. Not all live-action Marvel shows return for another season—Loki was the first to do so, leading into Daredevil: Born Again—but Moon Knight’s absence from series updates and Avengers: Doomsday cast announcements has raised more questions about his future. Oscar Isaac himself has not updated fans about the character since the series wrapped, keeping the door open for speculation among audience members and industry insiders alike.

What Fans and the Industry Might Expect Next

As Marvel heads into Phase 6 and continues to unveil new stories and characters, the possibility of revisiting Oscar Isaac’s role in Moon Knight season 2 remains unresolved. Fans, creators, and members of the industry, like Luke Cage actor Mike Colter, express hope for returns of their respective characters, but acknowledge that the ultimate decision is made by Marvel and its leadership.

For now, the adventures of Moon Knight remain accessible on Disney Plus, leaving audiences to wonder whether Marvel’s court will call the hero back onto the field, or if his story will linger as one of the many unresolved threads in the expanding Marvel universe.
