Rachel Brosnahan, who is set to be a major part of the DC Universe as a key player in the upcoming Superman projects, has shared that her persistent travel difficulties have discouraged Peter Safran, co-head of the DC studios, from flying with her. These travel issues have been affecting her for nearly ten years, making global press tours like the current Superman campaign extremely challenging.
Brosnahan explained that she always manages to reach her destinations,
but it’s never not as stressful as humanly possible to get there.
How Peter Safran Reacted to the Travel Troubles
The travel problems have become so notorious that Safran has deliberately avoided sharing flights with her. Brosnahan revealed with a laugh,
Literally, Peter Safran, who co-runs DC studios, won’t travel with me,
Like, people don’t believe — no, no, I’m so serious. He was like, ‘I’m not getting on a plane with you.’ And he didn’t!
While she did not disclose the exact incidents that convinced Safran to keep his distance when flying, Brosnahan described a wide range of travel mishaps. These include severe flight delays, cancellations, lost luggage, and sometimes even more unusual events.
The Extent and Impact of the Travel Curse
Brosnahan further discussed how skeptical people often are of the so-called curse until they experience it firsthand. She noted,
It’s everything, I feel like the number of times that somebody looked at me — nobody believes the curse, I should say, until they travel with me — and the number of times that somebody’s looked at me and been like, ‘Ma’am, I’m so sorry, I’ve just never seen this before,’ is too many times.
This ongoing struggle not only adds stress to her press commitments but also complicates the promotional activities crucial for the Superman franchise’s success.
Seeking Unconventional Solutions Amidst Travel Challenges
In response to these repeated difficulties during the Superman press tour, Brosnahan took an unconventional step by consulting a witch for assistance. She admitted,
“Yeah, I called a witch,”
I brought her to my house. She brought a wishing well, and a wand, and she signed an NDA, and we tackled the curse together.
Brosnahan expressed hope that the ritual would break her travel curse, though only time will reveal whether this effort will convince Safran or others to reconsider traveling with her in the future.
