Mandy Moore Teases Redemption Arc for Lana in Possible Princess Diaries 3 Return

Mandy Moore is prepared to reprise her role as Lana in the potential third installment of The Princess Diaries franchise. The 41-year-old actress originally portrayed Lana, a high school bully and cheerleader, in the first film released in 2001. With a new movie in development, Mandy Moore expressed interest in returning to her character to deliver a more redemptive storyline.

Hints of a Cameo Role and Character Growth

During an interview on Kylie Kelce’s podcast Not Gonna Lie on July 17, Mandy revealed she had heard months earlier about a possible cameo appearance for Lana in the new film. Although she has not received recent updates, she remains open to the idea. Mandy shared her hope for Lana’s evolution, explaining that she envisions a significant transformation since Lana bullied Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway, in high school.

Mandy Moore’s Vision for Lana’s Redemption

In her own words, Mandy said,

“I’d love some sort of redemptive storyline. Like maybe my character is working with an animal rescue or something,”

and added,

“Hopefully, she’s made something good out of her life. Like she’s come around and she’s actually a good person and she peaked in high school…That’s what I’m hoping for if I return.”

This reflection indicates that Mandy wants to show Lana’s growth beyond her teenage mistakes.

Future Expectations for The Princess Diaries 3

As excitement builds around the new film, it remains unclear whether Mandy Moore will appear on screen again. Other original cast members have also voiced interest in returning, contributing to the anticipation among fans eager to see how the characters continue their stories. Mandy’s optimistic approach to Lana’s character suggests the third movie could offer fresh perspectives alongside familiar faces.
