Emily Blunt Stuns in First Photos as Fashion-Forward Emily Charlton in The Devil Wears Prada 2

Emily Blunt has resumed her portrayal of Emily Charlton in the much-anticipated sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, with filming underway this summer in New York City. The English actress was recently spotted on set wearing a striking black-and-white pinstripe jumper layered over a crisp white shirt, complemented by her character‘s trademark fiery red hair and stylish sunglasses, capturing the essence of Emily Charlton’s impeccable wardrobe.

Reuniting with Familiar Faces and Fresh Cast Additions

Alongside Blunt, original cast members are reprising their roles, including Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, who appeared in early production photos donning the character’s signature icy hair and elegant purple blouse paired with a leather skirt. Anne Hathaway has also returned to film as Andy Sachs, the ambitious journalist-turned-fashion assistant. Hathaway marked the start of filming on July 21 with a behind-the-scenes photo highlighting her first day on set.

Stanley Tucci returns as Nigel Kipling, Miranda’s trusted Runway right hand, while Tracie Thoms reprises her role as Lily, Andy’s enduring friend. Tibor Feldman is back as Runway executive Irv Ravitz. However, Adrian Grenier, who played Nate Cooper—Andy’s boyfriend often called the “real villain of the original film—is confirmed not to be part of the sequel. Instead, Patrick Brammall has been cast as Andy’s new love interest.

The sequel is also expanding its ensemble with unconfirmed reports suggesting additions such as Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and Simone Ashley, among others.

Creative Team and Storyline Insights

David Frankel, the director who helmed the original film that earned two Oscar nominations and grossed $327 million worldwide, is back to direct the sequel. Aline Brosh McKenna, who adapted Lauren Weisberger’s novel for the first movie, has penned the screenplay for the new installment. OG producer Wendy Finerman returns to manage production.

Lauren Weisberger’s novel, which inspired the original movie, was drawn from her personal experience at Vogue working under Anna Wintour, who herself was a muse for Miranda Priestly’s character.

While plot details remain mostly confidential, McKenna provided some new context about how the story could evolve, reflecting changes in the publishing landscape. She said,

“Magazines and publishing have changed so much. This is a period of time where [Andy] took a physical book to someone’s house every day so she could leaf through it,”

and then added,

“Maybe they still do that, but I doubt it. It had its moment!”
