James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, has stepped forward to clarify misinformation circulating about upcoming DC films, specifically the Teen Titans live-action project and The Batman 2. Amid widespread speculation online, Gunn urged fans to be cautious about rumors, emphasizing that much of the reported information lacks confirmation.
No Script Yet for Teen Titans Film
Gunn revealed that the script for the DCU Teen Titans movie “doesn’t exist” at this time, dismissing any claims to the contrary. Though DC announced earlier in March 2024 that Ana Nogueira, the writer behind Supergirl, was crafting the screenplay, she has been occupied with work on a Wonder Woman movie. As a result, the Teen Titans storyline remains undeveloped, and Gunn warned that
“anything you’ve heard about that movie [Teen Titans] is made up or a guess. No one in the world knows anything about the concept for the story except four people,”
he wrote on the social media platform Threads.
Uncertain Status of The Batman 2 and Hush Character
Regarding The Batman 2, which is scheduled for release in 2027, Gunn dispelled speculation about director Matt Reeves’ involvement, reaffirming Reeves remains attached to the project. Production is expected to begin as soon as the script is finalized, with Robert Pattinson reprising his role as the Caped Crusader. When asked about the inclusion of the villain Hush in the sequel, Gunn again said,
“Again, everything you’ve heard is a total guess or made up.”
Multiple DC Projects Moving Forward Amid Rumors
Aside from Teen Titans and The Batman 2, Gunn confirmed that nine additional DC projects are currently in development, including another Batman movie titled The Brave and the Bold, though no casting announcements have been made yet. The DCU lineup continues to grow, fueling excitement among fans despite ongoing delays and uncertain details.
Upcoming Releases and Fan Anticipation
Fans can anticipate the release of Peacemaker season 2, which will premiere on August 21 on HBO Max in the United States and Sky in the United Kingdom. This is part of the broader wave of DC content planned under the Chapter One: Gods and Monsters banner, highlighting both upcoming films and television shows as the universe expands.
Gunn’s Commitment to Combating False Rumors
James Gunn has taken a proactive stance in correcting misinformation, especially when it affects fan expectations. He acknowledges that leaks are often inaccurate, stating he will continue to
“shoot down false rumors if people’s feelings are at stake”
given that leaks tend to be accurate “once every 20 times.” This approach aims to provide clarity amid an environment filled with speculation and fan theories.
