Chris Pratt is making grand plans for his daughter Lyla’s upcoming 5th birthday, centering the celebration around her love of mermaids. On the New York City red carpet premiere of his new series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, Pratt revealed that he is organizing an extravagant mermaid party to delight his young daughter.
Details of the Birthday Festivities and Gift Giving
The actor shared that Lyla’s passion for swimming and fascination with mermaids influenced the theme.
“She’s into mermaids right now. She loves to swim. She’s really good at swimming,”
Pratt told PEOPLE. He added,
“It’ll be a big party. I think we’re gonna have a petting zoo and real mermaids.”
While traveling internationally on press tours, Pratt has been gathering gifts for Lyla’s celebration as well as for his other children. He said,
“I just picked her up a nice present here in New York. I also got her sister something, and both of her brothers also will be getting something.”
He was referring to his daughter Eloise, his newborn son Ford, whom he shares with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger-Pratt, and his older son Jack, whose mother is Anna Faris.
Inspiration from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Thoughtful Gift Giving
Pratt recently shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that his father-in-law, Arnold Schwarzenegger, inspires him in selecting meaningful gifts. He described one memorable Mother’s Day surprise:
“He’s so good at giving us personalized gifts, like quilts with our faces. And for Mother’s Day, he had me bring all the children over and he set up a whole painting party.”
Pratt continued,
“And he had the girls make handprints. And he made me bring Ford back another day and do his handprint and he painted it into a bouquet of flowers [and] said, ‘Happy Mother’s Day Katherine…’ [He] sent it to Katherine on Mother’s Day. I was like, ‘How am I gonna top that?’”
