Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon are joining forces again for a new Netflix golf comedy series. The announcement came on August 6, revealing that the Emmy-nominated Shannon will star alongside her former Saturday Night Live co-star in this fresh television project.
Plot and Roles in the Upcoming Series
The 10-episode show centers on Ferrell’s character, Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a fictional golf legend. Shannon will portray his foul-mouthed ex-wife, Stacy, promising plenty of humor and lively interactions between the two. This series will mark Will Ferrell’s first venture into comedy television as a lead actor.
Changes Behind the Scenes and New Collaborators
Initially, Ferrell was set to collaborate with Ramy Youssef, with both co-creating the show alongside Josh Rabinowitz. However, last year, Youssef, Rabinowitz, and Andy Campagna, associated with Youssef’s Cairo Cowboy production company, exited the project due to creative differences, as reported by industry sources. The series is now moving forward with a new creative team, including Ferrell’s longtime friends and collaborators Chris Henchy and Harper Steele, with additional cast members expected to be revealed soon.
Additional Projects Featuring Will Ferrell
Alongside this news, it was also announced that Will Ferrell will reunite with former co-star Ryan Gosling for an upcoming comedy film. This continues Ferrell’s steady involvement in high-profile comedy projects set to debut soon.
