Horror enthusiasts in the UK are set to experience Together, a gripping body horror film starring real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie, this week. The movie, which explores a couple enduring disturbing and intense events, arrives in cinemas on August 15.
Strong Critical Reception and Intense Performances Highlight the Film
Following its US release, Together achieved a remarkable 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, maintaining a strong 90% approval rate. The film is noted for unforgettable and vividly unsettling sequences, with both Brie and Franco delivering deeply committed performances that enhance the eerie atmosphere of the story.
Impact of Filming Together on Franco and Brie’s Relationship
Despite the dark and challenging nature of the film’s content, working on Together had a surprisingly positive effect on the actors’ personal relationship. Before the UK premiere, Franco shared insights about their on-screen confrontations and how those moments translated off-camera.
People have asked about when we’re fighting in scenes together, do you take any of that home, is it weird to be around each other?,
Franco told Digital Spy ahead of the movie‘s UK release on Friday.
The truth is these characters are so different to us, the relationship is so different than ours that, more than anything, at the end of the day we were just thankful for how healthy our relationship is in comparison.

Behind-the-Scenes Roles and Collaboration with First-Time Director Michael Shanks
In addition to starring in the film, Franco and Brie also took on producing responsibilities. The movie marks the debut of writer and director Michael Shanks, whose vision brought the intense horror story to life. Their involvement extended beyond acting, as they supported Shanks throughout the production process.
Brie reflected on their past collaborations, explaining how their growing rapport on set allowed them to navigate this more demanding project.
We’ve developed such a shorthand together on set. When I think of those earlier jobs – Disaster Artist was the first one, Little Hours was the second – it was like getting our feet wet,
she said.
[It was] being like, ‘How are we both on set, are you going to be a method actor that’s scary to be around?’ – and he wasn’t. I feel like it would have been scary to dive right into something like Together that’s so intense.
Franco added that their experiences in the past five years learning about behind-the-camera roles helped them during this project.
With this one, we have a first-time writer/director in Michael Shanks who is incredible, but it was amazing for us to be there for him in the sense of protecting him, keep him away from all the logistical bullshit that he didn’t need to worry about, so he could focus on the creative side.
Release Date and Anticipated Impact of the Film
Together will be released in UK cinemas on August 15, providing horror fans with a deeply disturbing yet compelling viewing experience. The film’s acclaim and the authentic on-screen chemistry between Franco and Brie are expected to draw significant interest. Moreover, their collaborative production role and support of Shanks could signal more creative projects in the future, potentially strengthening their creative partnership both on and off-screen.
