Taylor Sheridan’s $450M Texas Studio Set to Transform Film Industry and Jobs

In 2025, Taylor Sheridan is poised to make a significant impact on the entertainment world through his ambitious Texas film expansion. Partnering with Paramount Pictures and Hillwood, Sheridan plans to invest $450 million in a sprawling 450,000-square-foot studio hub near Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, positioning it as the largest operational studio facility in Texas and a key player in the evolving film industry landscape.

State-of-the-Art Film Studio Designed for Multiple Productions

The new complex includes six soundstages equipped with HVAC, mill space, wardrobe, and greenscreen capabilities, allowing up to four major productions to be filmed simultaneously. This extensive infrastructure aims to support Sheridan’s growing portfolio of projects under his creative umbrella, including shows like Landman, Lioness, and The Madison. By providing both creative control and production capacity, the studio will serve as the central hub for this expanding slate of content.

Texas Emerges as a Growing Competitor in Film Production

Texas’ film production sector is gaining momentum, strengthened by a state incentive program that has been expanded to allocate up to $1.5 billion in grants through 2035. Earlier this year, an additional $100 million was added to attract large Hollywood projects to the region. Mike Berry, president of Hillwood, highlighted the significance of this development:

We are at a pivotal moment where Texas can become a global force in the film industry, and North Texas offers the location and resources to play a central role in this development. We have the infrastructure in place to grow jobs exponentially and produce thousands of future film industry workers, and with our partners, we have already started providing training for the specialty skills this workforce sector requires.

Taylor Sheridan emphasized the deeper motivation behind SGS Studios, explaining,

SGS Studios isn’t just about soundstages or incentives; it’s about reclaiming the independence and grit that built this industry in the first place. Texas offers something rare, the space to dream big, the freedom to build fast, and a community that still believes storytelling matters.

The studio campus, including the buildings SGS1 and SGS2, is located within Hillwood’s 27,000-acre AllianceTexas development and boasts modern facilities designed to meet the technical demands of contemporary filmmaking. Keri Panichi Flint, head of global production at Paramount, added:

In order for us to have the space to create the worlds that Taylor, Paramount, and 101 Studios envision, we need world-class facilities and partners.

Expanding Creative Horizons Beyond Film

In addition to his film studio efforts, Sheridan recently captured attention with a new venture in music entertainment. He partnered with Blake Shelton to co-create The Road, a music competition series featuring 12 emerging artists aiming to open for Keith Urban on his national tour. Premiering on October 19 on CBS, the show blends music discovery with high-profile exposure. Shelton noted,

Taylor Sheridan has broken a lot of music on his television shows,

and expressed his desire to create a unique experience:

not like anything else.
