Simone Kessell, recognized for her role in the horror series Yellowjackets (2021), is the latest addition to Subversion. Alongside her, Robert John Burke, known for the 1996 film Thinner, and David Wenham, who recently appeared in Spit (2025), have also signed on to the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Directed by Patrick Vollrath, whose previous work includes 7500 (2019) and Ketchup Kid (2013), Subversion tells the story of a former naval commander, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, who finds himself blackmailed into steering a submarine carrying illegal cargo through international waters. The film features Lily James and Michael Pena in significant roles, with Andrew Ferguson as the screenwriter and Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing. Executive producers Stephen Shafer and Greg Cohen are also overseeing the project.
