Billy Bob Thornton, known for his role as Tommy Norris in the Paramount+ drama series ‘Landman,’ recently revealed plans for a new project that will further immerse fans in the show‘s world. During an interview with his band, The Boxmasters, Thornton announced that a country music album connected to the series is in the works, involving prominent figures from the music industry. This addition to the ‘Landman‘ universe is set to debut alongside the show’s second season in late 2025.
Collaboration with Country Music Legends on Upcoming Soundtrack
The actor shared that although The Boxmasters will not be contributing to the second season’s music, longtime friend and country singer-songwriter Mark Collie inspired a collaboration with other artists. Thornton explained,
“The Boxmasters are not, but Mark Collie is an old friend of mine, a country singer-songwriter… Collie said, ‘Hey, you and I should write a country song [for the show] and see what happens,’”
during the interview.
This led to discussions with MCA about producing a soundtrack album featuring co-written songs with celebrated country singers. Thornton detailed,
“The next thing you know, I’m talking to MCA about doing a soundtrack album, and before you know it, somehow we started co-writing songs with all these country singers. I have a co-write thing on the soundtrack coming out that we wrote with Ronnie Dunn, and Billy Gibbons, and Parker McCollum, and Dwight Yoakam.”
