James Gunn, director of The Suicide Squad, recently discussed why Bloodsport’s costume was changed from its original concept art for the 2021 film. The movie marked Gunn’s debut in the DC Universe and featured a different design for Idris Elba’s Bloodsport character than initially planned. Gunn shared that he preferred the tactical suit seen in the film, which was equipped to hold Bloodsport’s nanotech weapons, over the concept art’s design, which included a helmet inspired by the xenomorph from the Alien franchise.
