Gary Sinise Shares Powerful 9/11 Reflection on 24th Anniversary

On the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, actor and philanthropist Gary Sinise joined Great American Media to reflect on the lasting impact of that tragic day and the heroic efforts of first responders. This poignant Gary Sinise 9/11 Reflection underscores the enduring spirit of America and highlights the ongoing work to honor those who sacrificed everything.

Honoring the Courage of First Responders and the Nation’s Unity

Bill Abbott, president and CEO of Great American Media, expressed profound admiration for the bravery of the first responders who rushed into danger on 9/11. Many lost their lives trying to save others during the unprecedented terror attacks. Abbott emphasized how their courage, along with the determination of countless others in the years following, represents the best qualities of the American spirit—a unity committed to defending shared values and freedoms.

“Every year, as the anniversary of September 11th approaches, I am deeply moved by the selfless courage of the first responders who ran toward danger, many sacrificing their lives in a heroic effort to save others,”

said Abbott.

“Their bravery, along with the determination of thousands of men and women who stood up in the days, months, and years that followed, reminds us of the very best of America, a nation united in the face of tragedy, committed to defending our values, our freedoms and one another.”

Preserving the Legacy Beyond a Phrase: The Meaning of ‘Never Forget’ Today

Abbott reflected on how the vow to Never Forget emerged from the tragedy but risks losing meaning over time. Through Great American Media’s dedication to storytelling, they aim to keep the memories of 9/11 vivid and meaningful for future generations. Their content explores themes of faith, family, and patriotism—the pillars that sustained the nation during and after those fateful events.

“In the wake of 9/11, ‘Never Forget’ was a heartfelt vow, resonating deeply across the nation,”

Abbott noted.

“Now, over two decades later, it risks fading into a hollow phrase. At Great American Media, we are devoted to preserving the stories of that day, ensuring future generations remember, unite, and are inspired to protect our cherished American freedoms. Through our content, we honor faith, family, and country — the enduring values that sustained us through 9/11 and continue to define our nation’s spirit.”

Gary Sinise’s Dedication to Veterans and First Responders

As part of this reflection, Abbott engaged with Gary Sinise to discuss his long-standing commitment to supporting veterans and emergency responders through the Gary Sinise Foundation. Their conversation, available on Great American Pure Flix as of September 10, sheds light on Sinise’s motivation and ongoing efforts to give back to those who have served the nation.

Sinise’s passion for veterans began in the 1980s when he supported Vietnam veteran organizations in Chicago. His portrayal of Lieutenant Dan in the film FORREST GUMP further deepened his understanding of the challenges faced by disabled veterans, leading to a stronger dedication after the 9/11 attacks.

“Back in the ’80s, I was very involved with supporting various Vietnam veterans’ organizations in Chicago. And, you know — and then, after playing the disabled veteran in FORREST GUMP, that kind of turned a little bit of a corner toward trying to help our wounded, but it really all just kind of catapulted after the attacks of September 11,”

Sinise explained in a previous interview.

Comprehensive Support for Those Who Serve

For more than 25 years, Sinise has devoted himself to improving the lives of military veterans and first responders. The Gary Sinise Foundation provides vital services including housing, employment assistance, substance abuse help, and emotional support to those in need. Sinise’s work ensures that America’s heroes feel recognized, valued, and supported long after their time of service.

Ensuring 9/11 Remains a Moment of National Reflection and Action

As the nation marks another anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, efforts by individuals like Gary Sinise and leaders such as Bill Abbott highlight the importance of remembering the day’s horror and the response it inspired. Their combined dedication helps keep the legacy of courage and sacrifice alive, encouraging ongoing unity and vigilance in protecting the freedoms Americans cherish.
