Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein Exhibition Comes to London Next Month

Starting October 17, visitors in London will have the opportunity to explore the world of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein through a new exhibition. Titled Frankenstein: Crafting a Tale Eternal, the event will take place at the Old Selfridges Hotel until November 9, highlighting the Mexican filmmaker’s creative approach to his Netflix adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel.

Showcasing the Artistry Behind the Film

The exhibition aims to honor del Toro’s imaginative storytelling and the craftsmanship of his team by displaying a wide array of movie props, original artwork, and costumes. Visitors will also see Tiffany & Co. jewelry featured in the film, alongside rare books curated by Peter Harrington that pay tribute to Mary Shelley’s enduring literary legacy.

Free Admission and Festival Screenings

Presented by Netflix in collaboration with LFF for Free, the BFI London Film Festival’s complimentary event series, this showcase is open to the public at no cost. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein will debut at the BFI London Film Festival on October 13, followed by a limited cinema release across the U.K. and Ireland on October 17. The film will then be made available worldwide on Netflix starting November 7.

Del Toro Reflects on His Lifelong Connection to Frankenstein

Reflecting on the project’s significance, del Toro shared,

“This film concludes a journey for me that started at age 7, when I saw James Whale’s ‘Frankenstein’ films for the first time. Gothic horror became my church, and Boris Karloff my Messiah,”

and added,

“It is an honor to be able to invite people to take a closer look at how my incredible crafts team and I have brought Mary Shelley’s world to life on screen.”
