Mark Ruffalo has confirmed that he is preparing to star in a new film directed by Bertrand Bonello, known for his works such as The Beast, Nocturama, and Saint Laurent. Sharing this news in a recent interview with Flaunt, Ruffalo revealed that working with Bonello is an exciting addition to his career collaborations with modern auteurs.
“There’s plenty that I haven’t worked with, but yeah, I’ve been so blessed. I’m always surprised that I’m still going, you know? I’m gonna work with Bertrand Bonello soon, which is exciting.”

Bertrand Bonello’s Current Film Projects and Future Plans
Although Ruffalo’s upcoming role is confirmed to be with Bonello, the specific project remains unannounced. The Polish Film Institute recently leaked the title Sainthood Now, a film rumored to be linked to Bonello’s latest endeavors, though it is unclear whether Ruffalo is involved in this particular project. Bonello disclosed in June to Variety that he currently has three scripts in development.
“I have three scripts. When things are more concrete, I’ll make an announcement,”
Bonello stated regarding his planned films.
The filmmaker shared insights into his creative motivations, explaining that he likes to challenge himself by pursuing new forms, themes, and languages in his work. He contrasted his previous film, The Beast, which was complex and featured a female lead, with his goal to create something simpler and to expand his shooting locations beyond France and Paris.
“Either you want to go further in something you’ve started, or you want to go elsewhere. And the projects I’m working on right now are a bit of both. I’m keen to explore something totally different, in the form, the theme, or even the language. With The Beast, I’d never made a film with a female lead before. It was a complex film, and now I want to make something simple. Then out of 10 films, nine were shot in Paris and in France. I’m eager now to shoot abroad and to collaborate with new actors. What drives me is the unknown.”
