Ben Stiller Confirms Barbra Streisand Returning for Meet the Parents 4

Ben Stiller has confirmed that Barbra Streisand is expected to return for the fourth installment of the Meet the Parents franchise, tentatively titled Focker-in-Law. Speaking at the Emmys in Los Angeles, Stiller hinted that negotiations are underway to bring the music and film icon back as Roz Focker, the character she portrayed in Meet the Fockers.

Stiller Shares Insights on Streisand’s Return and New Cast Additions

During an interview on the red carpet, Stiller expressed enthusiasm about Streisand’s possible return.

“I mean, we all would love it,”

he said, adding, “We’re in process.” This announcement follows Streisand’s June interview with Variety, where she addressed her previous pay disparity in Meet the Fockers. Streisand noted,

“Oh my God. They’d have to pay me a lot of money because I didn’t get paid what the other people got paid and so I’m pissed off.”

She recalled the era’s pay inequality for women and mentioned receiving a bonus check from Universal’s then-head Ron Meyer, calling it “very sweet.”

Focker-in-Law will also introduce Ariana Grande, known for her roles in Wicked and Wicked: For Good. Stiller praised Grande’s transition from music to acting, describing her as “a very unique character” and highlighting her professionalism on set. He remarked,

“What’s surprising, and maybe not really surprising, is how amazingly she blended in. She’s such a pro, she’s so funny, she’s so talented, obviously as a singer, but also she was so funny and amazing in Wicked.”

Franchise Continuity and Upcoming Release Date

Barbra Streisand originally appeared in the 2004 sequel Meet the Fockers alongside Dustin Hoffman, who played her onscreen husband Bernie Focker. The film also featured returning stars Robert De Niro, Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, and Owen Wilson. With Focker-in-Law poised to expand the cast and continue the storyline involving Greg Focker, played by Stiller, fans can look forward to its scheduled theatrical release on November 25, 2026.

What This Means for the Series and Fans

The confirmation of Streisand’s involvement signals a renewed commitment to preserving the core ensemble that has made the Meet the Parents series beloved by audiences. Stiller’s remarks about the ongoing process reflect a cautious optimism amid negotiations and production. The addition of Ariana Grande also injects fresh energy into the franchise, potentially attracting new viewers. As the release date approaches, anticipation builds around how these developments will shape the next chapter of the Focker family saga.
