Esai Morales Leads Powerful New Immigration Drama Coyote

Esai Morales, recognized for his roles in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning and The Final Reckoning, stars in Coyote, the latest film from Emmy-winning director Per Prinz. This Esai Morales immigration drama unfolds around the dangerous borderlands where past struggles and new threats converge.

The Story of Hernán Barroca’s Fight for Redemption

The film centers on Hernán Barroca, a former smuggler who is pulled back into the hazardous world he tried to leave behind. His efforts to guide Julia and her young daughter Maribel across the border expose them to a violent trafficking cartel, while U.S. Border Patrol agent Bradley intensifies the pursuit. As Hernán confronts old demons, he must rely on his survival instincts to protect the family and seek a personal redemption.

Creative Team Highlights the Human Side of Immigration

Per Prinz co-wrote the screenplay with Adam J Goldstein and believes Morales is the ideal actor for Hernán.

“Hernán is the perfect role for Esai, an exceptionally powerful actor able to switch gears and play a conflicted, broken man on a journey to salvation. It’s a story of hope and resilience,”

Prinz said. Alongside Morales, producers Scott Smith of Fire Tiger Studios, Hamid and Camille Torabpour of Winter State Entertainment support the project.

Scott Smith emphasized the film’s meaningful message:

“This is a story we’ve been building for years—one that reaches for redemption and hope. Our goal is to tell a story that’s both urgent and deeply human,”

he remarked. Through a collaboration including Morales’s Richport Entertainment, the team aims to shed light on the complexities and humanity behind immigration, encouraging a nuanced understanding for audiences.

From Hollywood Collaborations to a New Narrative Focus

Prinz, originally from Austria, has previously worked with notable stars such as Kevin Hart and Christopher Lloyd. With Coyote, he diverges into a more intimate, character-driven drama that combines suspense with a profound quest for redemption, offering a reflective lens on immigration challenges faced by many.
