Pamela Anderson Teams Up with Sons for Barb Wire Reboot

Pamela Anderson is returning to the world of Barb Wire, this time collaborating with her adult sons, Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee. Together, they have established And-Her-Sons Productions, which will spearhead a television adaptation centered on the Dark Horse Comics character Barbara Kopetski, a role Anderson originally portrayed in the 1996 film.

Anderson and her son Brandon Thomas Lee will serve as executive producers on the project, which remains in early development, according to a representative speaking with Entertainment Weekly. The series will offer a fresh interpretation distinct from the original movie.

Project Partners and Character Background

The reboot is a collaboration between UCP, Dark Horse Entertainment, and And-Her-Sons Productions. The series draws from Dark Horse Comics’ 1990s character Barb Wire, created by Chris Warner. First appearing in Comics’ Greatest World: Steel Harbor in 1993, Barbara Kopetski is portrayed as a tough bounty hunter navigating the gritty streets of Steel Harbor.

A Dark Horse representative provided a synopsis stating,

“Based on the Dark Horse Comics character of the same name, this series adaptation follows nail-hard tough Barbara Kopetski, aka Barb Wire, the baddest bounty hunter on the mean streets of Steel Harbor. Armed with her arsenal, motorcycle and an attitude that just won’t quit, Barb is willing to right any wrong in Steel Harbor – if the price is right.”

Dark Horse is also preparing to release The Barb Wire Compendium in February 2026, a comprehensive collection of all the main Barb Wire comics along with additional bonus materials.

From 1996 Movie to Modern TV Series

Anderson’s 1996 Barb Wire film showcased her as a mercenary during an imagined second civil war in America, filled with action sequences, explosions, and a rock music soundtrack. The film’s style echoed the music video era, influenced in part by Anderson’s then-husband, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, who is also the father of her two sons involved in this project.

Despite the intense action, the original movie was critically panned, winning two Razzie Awards—Worst New Star for Anderson and a Razzie for Tommy Lee’s song

“Welcome to Planet Boom! (a.k.a. This Boom’s for You).”

It received nominations in four other categories and holds a 28 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 36 reviews. Over time, however, the film has gained attention for its camp appeal. When it was released, Entertainment Weekly compared the character to a “Dominatrix Barbie.”

Personal Connection and Vision for the Reboot

Brandon Thomas Lee expressed enthusiasm on social media about the reboot, emphasizing his family’s commitment to the character’s legacy and new potential. He stated,

“Barb has become an iconic, celebrated character and we are thrilled to partner with Universal and Dark Horse to give her a second chance on-screen,”

adding,

“Barb Wire was my mother’s first lead role in a major feature and the perfect project to launch my family’s And-Her-Sons production company. We are committed to Barb’s legacy and ensuring she gets the moment she deserves. DON’T CALL ME BABE!”

Anderson’s renewed involvement as both actress and executive producer, alongside her sons, marks a multi-generational effort to reintroduce Barb Wire to contemporary audiences.

Anderson’s Recent Work and Future Outlook

Beyond this project, Pamela Anderson has remained active in film, with her recent roles including the 2024 drama The Last Showgirl—earning her a Golden Globe nomination—and a reboot of the spoof The Naked Gun released in July.

The Barb Wire reboot underscores Anderson’s ongoing influence in entertainment and highlights her family’s expanding role behind the scenes. The series may also breathe new life into a cult classic, potentially transforming Barb Wire’s reputation from a campy cult film to a more intense, character-driven television drama. Fans and viewers can anticipate updates as development progresses and the show nears production.
