Tom Holland Injured on Set, Takes Brief Break from Filming

Tom Holland, the 29-year-old English actor known for his role as Spider-Man, was hospitalized following an injury sustained while filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The incident took place in Glasgow, where production began last month, and Holland suffered a mild concussion after a stunt went wrong.

He was treated promptly and cleared from the hospital with no other individuals harmed in the accident. As a safety measure, Holland will pause filming temporarily but is expected to resume within a few days. This development marks the first time the actor has been hospitalized due to an on-set injury during his Spider-Man career.

Background on Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Holland’s Past Injuries

The newest Spider-Man installment follows Peter Parker, played by Holland, along with his friends MJ, portrayed by Zendaya, and Ned Leeds, played by Jacob Batalon. The story picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where both MJ and Ned no longer remember Peter Parker’s true identity.

During early production, Holland shared the excitement of starting the film in a promotional video, marking his fourth day one with the franchise and the first time fans were allowed on set at the start of filming. Despite his young age during his stage debut, Holland has a history of pushing through illnesses and injuries, a trait he highlighted when recalling his time in Billy Elliot: The Musical.

He revealed,

“I got the nickname Sick Note, which frustrates me to my core, even today,”

Holland admitted.

“I was too young to do that show. I was incredibly underdeveloped as a kid, and I would get sick, or I would be tired, or I would get injured, and I’d need to take a break because you’re doing three shows a week, rehearsing every single day. Now as an actor, I push through everything, because I’m not going to be Sick Note.”

Significance of the Injury and What to Expect Next

Though Holland’s previous stunts have included challenging physical routines and risky maneuvers, this is the first injury serious enough to require hospitalization. His temporary break from Spider-Man: Brand New Day will allow him to recover safely without disrupting the filming schedule significantly.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, and this pause in production is unlikely to affect the film’s timeline. Holland’s commitment to returning soon underscores his dedication to the role and the franchise, even amid the physical demands of playing the superhero.
