James Gunn has hinted that several characters from the Superman universe will be making an appearance in the upcoming finale of Peacemaker Season 2. This teaser emerged during a director’s commentary included as part of Superman’s home media release, suggesting a crossover between the two projects filmed concurrently.
In the Superman film, a notable scene shows Lex Luthor meeting with government officials to discuss controlling the Man of Steel. Gunn revealed that the Peacemaker finale includes a scene featuring many of those same actors, creating a link between the two stories.
“The Saturday after we did [this Superman scene], we shot a scene from Peacemaker [season 2] episode 8, because it had a lot of the same cast from Superman,”
Gunn explained.
“It had James [Hiroyuki Liao] as Mori and Frank [Grillo] as Rick Flag, and then a couple of other people. I think this will have already aired when this director’s commentary comes out, but I’m not sure actually. I’ll leave the secrets there.”
Key Roles Linking Superman and Peacemaker
Among the returning cast are James Hiroyuki Liao, who portrays General Mori, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., the acting director of A.R.G.U.S. Their involvement strengthens the connection between the narratives of Superman and Peacemaker. The finale is expected to feature these characters alongside others from the Superman film.
John Cena continues his role as Chris Smith, the irreverent antihero known as Peacemaker, in Season 2. According to the official synopsis,
“Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands.”
