Kate Mansi, known for her roles in Days of Our Lives and General Hospital, recently discovered she was targeted by a fraudulent Amy Poehler podcast scam. The 38-year-old actress believed she was scheduled for a pre-interview with Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang, but quickly realized it was a deception.
The incident unfolded when Mansi logged into what she thought was a legitimate pre-interview call, only to find out it was a scam designed to impersonate the podcast production.
Details of the Scam and Mansi’s Reaction
In a TikTok video, Mansi explained her experience with the fake podcast invitation. She shared her excitement about the prospect of appearing on Amy Poehler’s show, especially after being contacted on her birthday.
“So I just logged on for my pre-interview call with Amy Poehler for her podcast, who had reached out to me this week on my birthday and said they wanted to have me on as a guest. I was so excited. Couldn’t believe Amy Poehler wanted to talk to me. Figured she might as well have been a General Hospital fan. This is so embarrassing,”
she said.
She went on to describe the moment she realized the call was not genuine:
“I just logged on for the pre-call, and it was definitely a scam. So I am heartbroken and also if anyone gets an email from a Jake at Amy Poehler‘s Good Hang production company podcast asking to be interviewed, do not respond.”
Mansi’s Personal Reflections on the Fraud
The actress expressed her frustration and disappointment over the experience.
“I’m probably gonna go have a good cry about this. Amy, if you want to talk to me, let me know. Also, thank you to the people who did my hair and makeup today. And thank you for helping me figure out my schedule so that I could do this Amy Poehler Good Hang podcast virtual interview that they were just now doing. What an idiot,”
Mansi admitted.
She also highlighted how professional logos and a persuasive approach fooled her and her team.
“I don’t know what to say. They used the logos…I mean my publicist and my team even were like, I mean we had some questions obviously which is why we asked for a pre-call, but it was astonishing. None of us saw this coming. This is so strange. Anyway, be careful out there guys and everyone that helped me move stuff around this week to make this happen, I’m sorry and thank you. What a backwards, bad birthday gift to give me,”
she added.
The Wider Context of Amy Poehler’s Podcast
This incident comes amid Amy Poehler’s increasing public presence, including recent outspoken criticism she shared on her podcast regarding major events like the Oscars. While Poehler was not involved in this scam, the fraudulent use of her podcast’s name has caused confusion and distress for victims like Mansi.

Implications and Warnings for Public Figures
The episode serves as a cautionary tale for public figures and their teams to remain vigilant against scams that exploit popular media personalities and trusted brands. For Mansi, this was a harsh reminder to be cautious, especially when scheduling virtual interviews and responding to unexpected invitations. The deceptive use of Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast brand highlights how easily online fraud can infiltrate professional circles.
