Wahlberg explained how his casual plan to get a dog for his children led them to mistakenly believe that Kim Kardashian herself was visiting their home.
How the Confusion Began
The actor was asked by Fallon if he knew Kim Kardashian, and after confirming, the host reminded him of a peculiar tale involving Kim but strangely not really about her. Wahlberg explained,
“It has nothing to do with Kim but my kids,”
leading into the story of acquiring a dog for his family. He described how he spotted a small dog in Beverly Hills and thought it would be a good fit for their household.
Recalling the moment he inquired about the dog’s size, Wahlberg said,
“Is that the biggest the dog’s going to get?”
After being assured it was, he thought it was “perfect.”
The Kids’ Enthusiasm and the Resulting Miscommunication
Once Wahlberg found a similar dog, he told his children to get ready by saying,
“Somebody really important is coming today,”
which led to the kids mistakenly informing their mother, “Kim Kardashian’s coming over today.” This confusion caused an immediate reaction from Wahlberg’s wife, who interrupted a meeting concerned about the state of their home, saying,
“Our house is a mess. You can’t have them over here with our house looking like this.”
Wahlberg responded in disbelief,
“Who? What are you talking about?”
His wife explained that the kids had told her Kim was visiting, but Wahlberg clarified, “No, I got a dog.”

Wahlberg recalled that his wife became even more upset because she wasn’t involved in choosing the dog.
“Then she got even more mad because she didn’t get to pick the kind of dog,”
he said, also sharing,
“And I told her what kind of dog it was. She said, ‘That dog’s not coming in the house.’ I said, ‘Well, [then] you tell the kids when the dog gets here that the dog can’t come in the house.’”
Welcoming the Dog Despite Tensions
On the day the dog arrived, Wahlberg described the scene,
“The dog comes out of the crate, waddling out of the crate.”
Despite the earlier objections, his wife’s reaction was to grab the dog tightly,
“My wife dives on the dog, basically squeezing the dog to death.”
Wahlberg concluded with a light note,
“And now we have six dogs in our house.”
