Actor Kieran Culkin and his wife, Jazz Charton, are preparing to welcome their third child, the couple revealed over the weekend. The announcement came on Sunday, September 28, at the Broadway opening of Waiting for Godot, starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.
The couple made the news public in a subtle manner, with Charton wearing a form-fitting beige knit dress that highlighted her pregnancy, while Culkin affectionately rested his hand on her baby bump as they walked the red carpet. The announcement moves Culkin closer to his goal of expanding his family to six members.
Kieran Culkin’s Public Wish for a Larger Family
Culkin, known for his role in Succession, first shared his desire to grow his family during his acceptance speech at the 2024 Emmy Awards. He expressed gratitude to his wife for their two children, Sioux and Wilder Wolf, and openly stated his wish for more.
“My beautiful wife, Jazz, thank you for sharing your life with me, and for giving me two amazing kids, Sioux and Wilder Wolf,”
Culkin said during the event.
“I love you so many and so much. And Jazz, I want more. You said maybe, if I win.”
The Third Child Promise Revisited at the Oscars
In March 2025, Culkin revisited this pledge while accepting the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, mentioning the promise his wife made if he won the prize. Culkin humorously acknowledged how unexpected the win was for Charton, who had doubted it would happen.
“About a year ago, I was on a stage like this and I very stupidly, publicly said that I wanted a third kid from her because she said if I won the award, she would give me the kid,”
he told the crowd.
“Turns out she said that because she didn’t think I was going to win.”
From Public Promise to Private Agreement
Culkin described how Charton initially found the public attention somewhat bothersome, yet the promise came to mind again as they left the ceremony. While holding the Emmy and searching for their car, she admitted the deal, and Culkin teasingly raised the stakes.
“I think we’re walking through a parking lot, she’s holding the Emmy, we’re trying to find our car, and she goes, ‘Oh god, I did say that, I guess I owe you a third kid.’ And I turned to her and I said, ‘I really want four,'”
Culkin recalled.
“And she turned to me, I swear to god that this happened, and she said, ‘I will give you four when you win an Oscar.’ I held my hand out. She shook it, and I have not brought it up once until just now. You remember that, honey? You do?”
Anticipation for the Growing Family
In his remarks, Culkin affectionately encouraged his wife, underscoring his excitement for their expanding family with his heartfelt words.
“Then I just have this to say to you, Jazz, love of my life, yee of little faith. No pressure. I love you. I’m really sorry I did this again. And let’s get cracking on those kids. What do you say?”
