Lacey Chabert, best known as Hallmark’s Christmas queen, is also gearing up to host an unforgettable Halloween party this fall. Offering her expert Lacey Chabert Halloween Tips, she shares how anyone can create a festive atmosphere that fully embraces the spirit of the season.
Fully Embrace Your Fall Party Theme
Chabert recommends fully committing to a cohesive theme for your autumn celebration. She advises that the colors, decorations, food, and treats should all align to create an immersive experience. For her own family, this typically means incorporating pumpkin decorating with her daughter, Julia, to personalize the festivities.
Chabert reflected on her seasonal color choices:
I had one set of pumpkins that I did, like, a shabby chic color scheme. They were really, really pretty and matched the neutral tones of my home,
explaining her 2024 fall aesthetic.
Engage in Fun Fall Crafts and Baking
The actress also highlights how much she cherishes the arts and crafts aspect of autumn, especially baking with family members. She said,
I just enjoy baking with every holiday. It’s having those special moments with my family,
which adds a warm, personal touch to celebrations.
DIY Costumes Drive the Festivities
Costume creativity is essential to Chabert’s Halloween celebrations. She explained,
We’re all about a costume. I love a DIY costume,
adding that her daughter often invents unique looks that blend multiple characters into one original theme.

Essential Halloween Music Selection
When it comes to setting the mood, Chabert’s autumn playlist always includes classics like Monster Mash to keep the atmosphere lively and festive throughout the event.
Trick-or-Treating Remains a Highlight
As a mother to an eight-year-old, Chabert emphasizes the importance of traditional trick-or-treating. She shared,
I’m a mom to an 8-year-old, so I love trick-or-treating,
and fondly recalled how she herself continued the activity well into her teenage years:
My best Halloween memories as a kid were going out trick-or-treating. I did it as long as I possibly could. I think I was probably 16 still trick-or-treating.
Painted Pumpkins over Carving
Though pumpkin carving is common, Chabert admits she prefers painting pumpkins to avoid the quick rotting that carving often causes.
I personally am not great at carving pumpkins. So, we painted ours. Then we added little arts and crafts to them and made them our own,
she said. She also mentioned her daughter adds stickers, making the homemade pumpkins uniquely theirs.
Favorite Halloween Movies to Watch
When picking films to play during Halloween gatherings, Chabert gravitates towards the beloved Disney Channel Original Movie Halloweentown. She expressed a personal connection to its star, saying,
Kimberly J. Brown‘s my friend. Dear friend,
noting that her daughter Julia is a big fan as well. Brown will also appear alongside Chabert in the Hallmark movie Haul Out the Halloween, premiering October 11.
Other seasonal movie favorites Chabert enjoys include The Nightmare Before Christmas, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and Hocus Pocus.
Creative and Festive Halloween Snacks
Chabert recommends easy-to-make treats like Rice Krispie snacks decorated as pumpkins and little mummies using icing and small decorations, perfect for easy party snacking. She also enjoys serving heartier autumn dishes, saying,
I love a butternut squash soup and a really yummy pasta,
to complement the festive food offerings.
Special Drinks for All Ages
For adult guests, Chabert suggests a pumpkin spice cocktail, while children can enjoy a vibrant homemade orange punch often made with green sherbet. She elaborated,
A pumpkin spice-inspired cocktail is fun for an adult beverage,
and for kids,
orange punch. Orange homemade punch. We always had homemade punch growing up with green sherbet.
Going beyond, she encourages creating a DIY station for guests to make their own Halloween punch, describing it as,
in the vein of a hot chocolate bar.
Maintain Flexibility and Focus on Fun
Chabert admits that despite having mental checklists for decorations and planning, she often works in a spontaneous, somewhat chaotic way. She said,
I have a list in my mind, which I always fail to actually write down. So, the list sometimes becomes a bit pointless,
but ultimately emphasizes,
Sometimes I’m a little chaotic and all over the place, but at the end of the day, it’s all about the fun.
She stressed that every celebration should focus on not taking it too seriously and instead creating a
fun environment with great music, a color scheme and delicious food.
Christmas Preparations Begin Early
While Halloween is a highlight, Chabert’s passion for decorating peaks during Christmas. She humorously shared that decorating for the winter holiday season often begins the day after Halloween:
Christmas is definitely the biggest thing to decorate for, like the most decorations and the thing I go most all out for. … Christmas is obviously, I’m all in,
and added,
The decorations are there waiting just to be put up.
