Earth X’s Auggie Smith Opposed the Nazi Regime, Says James Gunn
In response to fan comments on Threads, James Gunn clarified the moral stance of Auggie Smith in the Earth X universe. He stated,
“Well Auggie is generally a good human being who is opposed to what the Nazis are doing. But Keith (and Chris 2), well… I don’t know. Sometimes the apples fall very far from the tree — on both Earths!”
This made it clear that this version of Auggie is dramatically different from the main DC universe’s portrayal of him as a racist villain.
Episode 7 revealed that Auggie Smith, also called Blue Dragon, resisted the oppressive regime’s atrocities. His objective was to ensure Peacemaker and his group returned safely to their original world. Before his death, Auggie expressed to Chris and Emilia Harcourt that he fought
“the madman murderers and monsters in front of [him] because that’s all [he] can control.”
This confrontation ultimately ended when Vigilante fatally shot him during an attempt to protect others.
