John C. Reilly Confirms Dewey Cox 2027 Tour Plans

John C. Reilly has unveiled plans to mark the 20th anniversary of the cult comedy Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story with a special 2027 tour. Reilly confirmed that he will perform as Dewey Cox alongside the fictional band, The Hard Walkers, bringing the character and music back live for fans.

Details of the Upcoming Dewey Cox and The Hard Walkers Tour

On the Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast, Reilly explained,

“We’re going to do a concert tour, Dewey Cox and the Hard Walkers. As many dates and as big of places as we can do. So, yeah, that’s the idea for the 20th anniversary,”

highlighting his hopes to reach large venues during the tour.

Reflection on the Original 2007 Tour Supporting the Film

Reilly recalled the 2007 promotional tour for Walk Hard, describing it as a surprising success. He said,

“It worked out great. It seems insane. No studio would ever pay you to go even one time on a private plane anymore. But they were desperate at the time [due to the 2007–08 Writers Strike]… The concerts went great, they really did love the music. They barely knew the songs, though, they had just seen the movie.”

Jack White’s Interest in the Movie Soundtrack

In addition to the tour, Reilly revealed that musician Jack White has shown interest in reissuing the original Walk Hard soundtrack on vinyl, suggesting a renewed enthusiasm for the project and its music.

Anticipated Impact of the 2027 Tour and Anniversary Celebrations

The plans for the Dewey Cox tour and potential vinyl soundtrack release signal a revival of interest in Walk Hard’s unique blend of comedy and music. For longtime fans and new audiences alike, this 20th anniversary celebration promises to reignite the cult classic’s legacy and introduce Dewey Cox’s story in a fresh, engaging format.
