Julia Fox Opens Up: “I Just Can’t Find Anyone I Want”

Actress Julia Fox candidly addressed her stance on celibacy in a recent interview, revealing personal frustrations with dating and relationships. Speaking in the context of promoting her film released on September 19, Fox shared her struggles with finding a suitable partner, highlighting her views on intimacy and control amid societal changes.

Julia Fox Clarifies Her Views on Celibacy

During a conversation with Glamour magazine, Julia Fox elaborated on her previous celibacy remarks while promoting her role as Elsie White in the movie Him. The 35-year-old actress explained that the term “celibate” carries religious connotations she does not fully relate to.

She revealed her current reality with relationships, admitting her difficulty in discovering an appealing partner. Fox stated,

“I don’t know if celibate is the right word, because I think that has a lot of religious [connotations].”

She expanded that sentiment by expressing frustration, saying,

“I just can’t find anyone that I want to f***. That’s really what’s happening right now, and it’s a big problem – and I think a lot of women feel that way. So I think men need to just be more f***able.”

Public Reaction and Broader Discussions on Celibacy

Fox’s remarks come amidst a broader conversation fueled by Bumble’s nationwide campaign, which challenged celibacy as a solution by suggesting it was not the answer to modern dating challenges. The campaign, launched on May 11 with billboards across the country, sparked heated debate on intimacy and women’s safety.

One viral TikTok post criticized the campaign sharply, stating,

“Imagine pretending to be a dating app FOR WOMEN and launching a million-dollar ad campaign BLAMING WOMEN for a very normal reaction to men’s violence.”

Fox responded to this viral discussion, sharing in the comments,

“2.5 years of celibacy and never been better tbh.”

Connection to Reproductive Rights and Personal Boundaries

Fox also linked her celibacy decision to the political climate surrounding women’s rights in the United States, particularly referencing the overturning of Roe v. Wade. She described embracing celibacy as a means to reclaim control amid uncertainty and injustice.

She explained,

“Our rights being stripped away from us — this is a way that I can take back control,”

adding,

“And it just sucks that it has to be that way, but I just don’t feel comfortable until things change.”

Context of Fox’s Personal Life and Public Image

Julia Fox gained attention last year for her brief relationship with rapper Kanye West. Her current reflections suggest a period of introspection and redefinition of her personal boundaries within a complex social and political environment. These perspectives reveal the challenges Fox faces navigating dating and relationships while maintaining autonomy.

As her film Him continues to generate interest, Fox’s openness on topics such as celibacy, intimacy, and societal pressures provide insight into her current mindset and the broader cultural conversations influencing many women’s experiences today.
