According to sources cited by Nexus Point News, Danielle Deadwyler is in talks to join Ryan Coogler’s reboot of The X-Files, portraying one of the primary agents. Coogler, who began developing the series in 2023, is set to write the pilot episode along with acting as an executive producer and possibly directing. The reboot is being produced in collaboration with Chris Carter, the original series creator, who has met with Coogler to discuss this new vision.

The original X-Files captivated audiences from 1993 until 2002 before returning for two additional seasons in 2016. Over its run, the show totaled 218 episodes and produced two feature films starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. While Coogler has also spoken with Anderson about the reboot, she has stated she does not intend to reprise her role.
