Jerry Bruckheimer Confirms Margot Robbie in Pirates Update

Margot Robbie has long been associated with a new female-led installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, a development that excited many fans. After years of little news, doubts grew about whether Disney would ever bring this version to life. However, recent remarks from producer Jerry Bruckheimer suggest that Robbie’s involvement remains intact, signaling ongoing creative efforts behind the scenes.

Jerry Bruckheimer Provides Insight on Script Progress and Casting

Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer behind Pirates of the Caribbean, recently shared updates about the status of the franchise. He indicated that the team is currently focused on developing the script, which will determine the direction of the next film. Bruckheimer mentioned that Disney is also attempting to bring back Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, contingent upon the strength of the screenplay.

He stated,

“We’re working on a script. It’s always on the page; if we don’t have it on the page, it’s not gonna get on the screen,”

referring to the ongoing writing process. Bruckheimer added,

“We had two scripts at one point, and then one kinda dropped out, and then we kinda went on with the other one.”

While it remains unclear which script was discarded, Bruckheimer confirmed that the version still in development features Margot Robbie’s role. “Well, she’s still involved,” he affirmed, reassuring fans about her continued participation.

Creative Team and Writing Legacy Behind the New Script

Adding to the project’s credibility, the writer who crafted the screenplay for the first four Pirates films—including The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest, At World’s End, and On Stranger Tides—is actively contributing to the current script. This connection maintains continuity with the franchise’s established style and storytelling approach, building anticipation for what could be a fresh take on the beloved saga.

though she added,

“But I guess they don’t want to do it.”

Looking Ahead: What the Future Holds for Pirates of the Caribbean
