Nicole Kidman Opens Up on Overcoming Pain and Feeling Broken

Nicole Kidman recently shared her perspective on aging, highlighting the growth that stems from life experiences and the process of Nicole Kidman overcoming pain. Speaking in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she emphasized the value in the lessons accumulated over time that shape her current outlook.

The Strength Found in Facing Difficult Emotions

Kidman discussed the clarity that comes with repeated challenges, explaining how previous encounters with hardship build resilience. She stated,

“The best part is the experiences that you’ve accumulated.”

This explains her confidence in handling new difficulties, even when they feel overwhelming.

She elaborated,

“So you go, ‘Oh, I’ve been here before. I actually know how to handle this now.’ Or, ‘Maybe I haven’t been in this place, but I’ve experienced something similar to this, and I do know that I will get through it.’”

On confronting hardship, Kidman conveyed the necessity of fully feeling the pain rather than avoiding it.

“There’s something to knowing that no matter how painful, or how difficult, or how devastating something is, there is a way through,”

she said.

“You’re going to have to feel it. You’re not going to be able to numb it,”

Kidman explained.

“You are going to have to feel it, and it’s going to feel insurmountable at times. You’re going to feel like you’re broken, but if you move gently and slowly—and it can take an enormous amount of time—it does pass.”

Sharing Wisdom and Embracing Motherhood as Motivation

As Kidman approaches her late fifties, she expressed a desire to pass on the insights she has gained through life’s hardships, stating,

“I’ve seen a lot, I’ve experienced a lot, and I’ve survived a lot. I want to pass on some of that knowledge and that wisdom and whatever I’ve learned.”

Her role as a mother remains central to her sense of purpose. She emphasized the importance of safeguarding her children, saying,

“My children [give me the] purpose of being their protector and their guide, promising them that I’m here and that, no matter what, there’s always a safe place to grow up in.”

Recent Personal Changes and Focus on Family Stability

Kidman’s reflections come amid significant changes in her personal life. Following the announcement of her separation from country singer Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage in late September, she has adjusted to co-parenting their two children. Kidman is the primary residential parent, focusing on maintaining stability and support for her family during this transition.
