During a recent interview, Gwyneth Paltrow revealed she was unaware that Timothée Chalamet’s girlfriend was Kylie Jenner when they first started working together on the film Marty Supreme. The 53-year-old actress’s charming innocence about pop culture led to this unexpected moment, as she admired Chalamet’s openness about dating someone with children.
First Impressions on Set and Unexpected Revelations
When Paltrow met Chalamet, she questioned him about his personal life, asking if he had a girlfriend. He confirmed he did, mentioning she had kids, which Paltrow thought was admirable. She expressed surprise at his choice, highlighting her respect for a young man going out with a woman who is a mother.
“Everyone makes fun of me because I don’t know anything. I was like, ‘Do you have a girlfriend?’ And he was like, ‘I do,’”
Gwyneth Paltrow said.
“He mentioned that she had kids and I was like, ‘That’s so cool. I really love to hear that [from] a young man like you.’ I understand a 45-year-old who has his own kids going out with a woman with kids, but it’s a cool choice to go out with a young woman who has two kids. I respect it. I think it’s kind of punk rock.”
she added.
However, she was unaware that the woman in question was Kylie Jenner, the well-known reality star and makeup CEO.
“But my point is I didn’t know [it was] Kylie Jenner…”
Paltrow admitted.
Background on Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s Relationship
Kylie Jenner, age 28, has been romantically linked to Timothée Chalamet since 2023. Jenner is mother to daughter Stormi, 7, and son Aire, 3, whom she shares with rapper Travis Scott. The relationship between Jenner and Chalamet has attracted much media attention, especially after they were spotted sharing an on-screen kiss during the filming of Marty Supreme in October 2024.
“Oh my God, all of my mom group chats were on fire. Everyone was like, ‘Yes, GP, get it!’ I’m like, ‘Guys, calm down.’
Paltrow remarked humorously about the enthusiastic reactions from her social circles.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Return to Acting and Personal Reflections
Paltrow’s role in Marty Supreme marks her first acting project in over five years, her last role being in Netflix’s The Politician’s second season in 2020. She reflected on her feelings toward acting, emphasizing a pragmatic approach rather than any ongoing longing for fame or roles.
“I’m good at it [acting]. I enjoy certain parts of it. It’s very much part of the story of who I am, but I don’t daydream about it. I don’t fantasize about what role I haven’t played yet. I don’t know why,”
Paltrow explained.
A Lighthearted Look at Smoking and Future Plans
Beyond acting, Paltrow opened up about her choice to quit smoking since marrying Brad Falchuk seven years ago, although she jokingly admitted she still thinks about it.
“I miss it, though. I was saying to [husband] Brad [Falchuk], maybe when I’m 85, I’ll start again. That’d be so awesome,”
she said with a smile.
