Gwyneth Paltrow admitted she was largely unfamiliar with Timothée Chalamet when they first began work on their film Marty Supreme. In an interview with British Vogue, she revealed that, while trying to get to know her co-star, she asked if he had a girlfriend and was impressed to hear that she had children—unaware the woman was billionaire reality TV star Kylie Jenner.
The Oscar-winning actress described her initial impression of dating someone with kids as “so cool,” especially for a young man like 29-year-old Chalamet, given the age difference and the responsibilities involved.
How Paltrow Tried to Connect With Chalamet
Paltrow reflected on their early interaction during a costume fitting for Marty Supreme.
“I was asking him questions, trying to get to know him,”
she told the publication, also noting,
“Everyone makes fun of me because I don’t know anything.”
She continued, recalling how their conversation turned to his personal life.
“I was like, ‘Do you have a girlfriend?’ And he was like, ‘I do.’ He mentioned that she had kids and I was like, ‘That’s so cool. I really love to hear that [from] a young man like you.’”
For Paltrow, dating a woman with children seemed particularly open-minded and mature.
“I understand a 45-year-old who has his own kids going out with a woman with kids,”
she explained,
“But it’s a cool choice to go out with a young woman who has two kids. I respect it. I think it’s kind of punk rock.”
The Surprising Reveal About Chalamet’s Girlfriend
Despite her curiosity, Chalamet did not reveal his girlfriend’s identity to Paltrow, leaving her unaware she was Kylie Jenner, a fact that only became clear much later.
“My point is I didn’t know [it was] Kylie Jenner,”
Paltrow said. The couple has been publicly linked since April 2023.
Anticipation Builds Around ‘Marty Supreme’ and On-Screen Chemistry
During the interview, Paltrow also shared how excited her friends were when photos from the Marty Supreme set surfaced, showing her character sharing a romantic moment with Chalamet’s. She quoted their reactions:

“Everyone was like, ‘Yes, GP, get it!’”
However, she responded to them with, “Guys, calm down.”
Marty Supreme premiered recently in a surprise screening at the New York Film Festival, receiving strong praise from critics. The film, directed by Josh Safdie, features an ensemble cast including Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma (also known as Tyler, the Creator), Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.
Release Plans and the Film’s Expected Impact
Set for a theatrical release on Christmas, Marty Supreme has already generated considerable anticipation. The positive critical reception from its festival debut signals a promising future, while the off-screen dynamics between main stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet add an extra layer of public interest ahead of the holiday season release.
