Emma Stone’s Bugonia Screening Demands Attendees Go Bald

Emma Stone’s latest movie, Bugonia, is introducing a unique condition for its upcoming screening in Los Angeles: attendees must be bald or willing to shave their heads before entering. This bold promotional event is scheduled for Monday at the Culver Theater, heightening anticipation for the film while centering on the movie’s distinctive theme.

Details on the Baldness Requirement and Screening Logistics

According to DoLA, an events website that shared the screening details, the exclusive show is open to anyone who arrives bald or agrees to become bald on site.

“This special screening is for anyone who is bald,”

the announcement stated.

“If you are not bald, we will have a barber on site to shave your head in order for you to watch the film.”

The barber will be available starting two hours before the screening’s 8 p.m. start time to accommodate anyone needing a shave.

Attendance operates on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning tickets do not guarantee admission. Organizers recommend arriving early to secure a spot. Additionally, a portion of the audience will be filmed as part of the event’s promotional activities.

“This event is a first come, first serve screening. Ticket does not guarantee admission, so please arrive early. A portion of the screening will be filmed for promotional purposes,”

the posting explained. Reinforcing this, DoLA’s Instagram confirmed,

“This is real. And yes, part of it will be filmed.”

Background on Bugonia and Its Cast

In Bugonia, Emma Stone appears bald, a look tied closely to the story’s plot. Her character, a CEO, is kidnapped by two conspiracy-driven men who suspect her of being an alien planning to destroy the planet. The film is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, written by Will Tracy, and inspired by the Korean thriller Save the Green Planet! The cast includes Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone.

Upcoming Film Release Dates and Anticipated Impact

Bugonia will receive a limited theatrical release in the United States on October 24, leading up to a wide release on October 31. The unusual baldness requirement for the preview screening adds a tense and unconventional layer of audience engagement, reflecting the film’s unsettling themes and generating buzz ahead of its broader debut in California and beyond.
