Sydney Sweeney addressed the widespread topic of plastic surgery in a recent interview with Variety, stating she has never undergone any procedures despite the increasing popularity of cosmetic enhancements. The actress, known for her role in Christy, shared that she hopes to embrace aging naturally without resorting to injections or surgical alterations.
Sydney Sweeney’s Personal Stance on Cosmetic Procedures
During the interview, Sweeney emphasized her fear of needles as a significant factor in avoiding plastic surgery, saying,
“No tattoos. Nothing. I’m going to age gracefully.”
She firmly expressed her decision to maintain her natural appearance in an environment where many celebrities face speculation about their looks.
Responding to Online Speculation About Celebrity Transformations
Sweeney also commented on the internet’s habit of comparing photos to guess which celebrities might have had cosmetic work done. She dismissed such comparisons as misleading, noting the natural changes that occur over time.
“It’s really funny. I’ll see things online like ‘comparison pictures.’ I’m like, ‘I’m 12 in that photo. Of course I’m going to look different. I have makeup on now and I’m 15 years older,’”
she explained.
Early Career Pressure to Use Botox
Reflecting on early advice she received, Sweeney recounted being urged at age 16 to alter her appearance with Botox to succeed in the industry. She shared,
“I have very strong eyebrow muscles,”
and added,
“And I had someone tell me to fix my face or else I’m not going to make it. I should get Botox. I was 16!”
Despite this pressure, she chose to avoid such treatments.
Current Projects and Public Appearances
Sydney Sweeney discussed these views while promoting her new film, Christy, a boxing biopic that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. The movie is scheduled for release in U.S. theaters on November 7, marking an important step in her career while maintaining her authentic image amid industry expectations.
