Jeremy Renner has shared new insights on the possibility of Hawkeye returning for a second season, signaling that the Disney Plus series might soon be back. Amid complex developments following Renner’s injury and contract disputes, hopeful signs now suggest that fans could see more of the Bowman’s story shortly.
Jeremy Renner’s Recovery and Season 2 Prospects
The path to Hawkeye season 2 has faced significant challenges, beginning right after the first season aired. Rumors circulated about a quick follow-up, but Jeremy Renner endured a severe injury while operating a snow plow, which brought excitement to a halt. The situation grew more complicated as Renner publicly addressed Marvel Studios about being offered a lower contract, which he attributed to his medical condition. Despite this rocky period, Renner’s relationship with Disney appears to be improving. He recently conveyed optimism about resuming work on the second season, suggesting his health is recovering enough to move forward.
We got to where we’re trying to do the second season,
Renner told The Playlist.
And I think I’ll get strong enough to be able to do it. And we’ll work it out. It’s gonna be great.
What Made Hawkeye a Hit on Disney Plus
While Hawkeye may not have reached the top of Disney Plus’s most beloved shows, it struck a chord that left viewers eager for more after almost four years since its debut. Renner believes the series connected strongly with audiences because it focused on Clint Barton’s core values, especially his dedication to family.
I really enjoyed doing the series version. Because it was a bit more intimate and had the family dynamic, which is always a huge part of him. I think Clint’s superpower is the human side — he’s a superpowerless superhero. He’s one of the few, but I think his superpower is that sort of grit of the human condition and his loyalty and family.
It’s like, otherwise, what are you fighting for? We’re fighting for that love and that loyalty of family. And so exploring that was always great. And then there’s the Christmas theme — being in New York, that was great too.
Currently, the first season of Hawkeye continues to stream on Disney Plus, keeping the character’s narrative alive for Marvel fans. With Renner’s hopeful remarks and improving circumstances, the series may soon resume, promising a continuation of Clint Barton’s journey both as a hero and as a family man.
