Alyssa Farah Griffin Demands Justice for Sydney Sweeney Now

Alyssa Farah Griffin, host of The View, has demanded justice for Sydney Sweeney this Halloween as the actress faces ongoing scrutiny over her appearance. Griffin’s passionate defense highlights the frustration with how Sweeney is repeatedly judged for her looks rather than her acting abilities.

During the Hot Topics segment on Friday, the discussion turned to Sydney Sweeney’s recent attendance at Variety’s Power of Women event. While actress Sharon Stone supported Sweeney by praising her choice to embrace her appearance for promotional purposes, Griffin expressed exhaustion over the constant negativity directed at the actress.

Condemning Criticism Over Sweeney’s Roles and Appearance

Griffin voiced her discontent clearly:

“I am so over the Sydney Sweeney hate,”

she told the audience. Sweeney has faced harsh remarks such as claims that she only lands roles because of her sexuality or because she highlights her physical attributes. Griffin pushed back against these shallow judgments, emphasizing Sweeney’s talent instead. “She’s a phenomenal actor!” she insisted.

Using Sweeney’s portrayal in the series Reality as an example, Griffin pointed out that the actress did not appear glamorous at all in the role of Reality Winner, a U.S. Air Force veteran and NSA whistleblower, yet delivered an impressive performance.

“She does not look hot a minute in that,”

Griffin noted, showing how misguided the focus on Sweeney’s appearance often is.

Griffin also referenced Sweeney’s part as Christy Martin, a boxer, in the series Christy. The role required Sweeney to gain weight, which triggered criticism from some for “letting herself go.” Griffin highlighted the impossible expectations placed on the actress, saying, “Like, she can’t win!”

Calling for Fairness and Recognition of Talent

Griffin summed up the unfair double standards that Sweeney faces:

“So she’s not hot enough in this, but in real life she’s hot, and you’re gonna be mad at her? Justice for Sydney Sweeney,”

she concluded, urging for respect and fairness toward the actress. This moment of defense on The View underscores the persistent debate around how women in Hollywood are judged by their looks rather than their craft.

The View is broadcast weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
