Benicio Del Toro Reunites With ‘Reptile’ Director for New Film

Benicio Del Toro is set to reunite with Grant Singer, the director of Reptile, for a new film titled Reenactment. The project is currently under wraps but is generating interest as Black Label Media returns as a production partner. Cameron Diaz may also join the cast, though her involvement has not been confirmed at this stage.

Details About the New Film and Production Team

Reenactment is an original screenplay written by Grant Singer, marking another collaboration between the actor and director after the 2023 film Reptile. Black Label Media, which produced Reptile, is producing again with Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, and Thad Luckinbill leading the production. Legendary company 193 is also involved, with Patrick Wachsberger producing and overseeing international sales.

While Netflix secured Reptile following its successful TIFF 2023 premiere, it remains unclear if the streaming giant will distribute Reenactment. Executive producers include Rachel Smith from Black Label, Ashley Stern from 193, and Rick Yorn and Scott Greenberg from LBI.

Grant Singer’s Expanding Film Slate

Besides Reenactment, Grant Singer is directing The White Van, another Black Label Media project currently in development. Black Label’s upcoming releases also include Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love, scheduled for release on November 7, and JD Dillard’s The Strange, which is actively casting as of now.

Benicio Del Toro’s Recent and Upcoming Work

Del Toro has had a strong start to 2025 with starring roles in The Phoenician Scheme and One Battle After Another, both anticipated to be contenders on many critics’ year-end best lists. He is also expected to appear in Jamie Foxx’s directorial debut, All-Star Weekend, though its release date has yet to be announced.

Cameron Diaz’s Return to Acting

Cameron Diaz has returned to the screen after an eleven-year break with the Netflix action-comedy Back In Action, co-starring with Jamie Foxx. The film has been Netflix’s most-watched movie of 2025 thus far. Diaz also has three other projects lined up: Bad Day, Outcome, and Shrek 5.

What Lies Ahead for ‘Reenactment’ and Its Creators

The reunion of Benicio Del Toro and Grant Singer signals a promising collaboration that could build on the acclaim of Reptile. While plot details for Reenactment are still confidential, the involvement of experienced producers and possible star Cameron Diaz suggests the film will attract attention once more information emerges. Whether Netflix or another distributor will pick up the title remains unknown, keeping the project’s release and reach uncertain.
