Pete Davidson Keeps Sentimental Tattoos Despite Removal Plan

Pete Davidson, known for his role on Saturday Night Live, has been gradually removing many of his tattoos but confirmed in a recent interview that some will stay with him permanently. The 31-year-old actor emphasized that several tattoos hold strong sentimental value and will not be erased, including his Hillary Clinton and Wu-Tang Clan tattoos. These pieces represent meaningful connections that Davidson intends to preserve despite his ongoing removal efforts.

Tributes to Family Featured Amid Tattoo Removals

Among the tattoos Davidson insists on keeping is one dedicated to his mother, inspired by her suggestion.

“I got all these tattoos, so my mom was like, ‘How come you’ve never gotten a ‘Mom’ tattoo?’”

he explained.

“Now I have a tattoo that just says ‘MOMTATTOO.’ That one has to stay.”

The actor also plans to keep a tattoo honoring his late father, firefighter Scott Davidson, who tragically died in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001. This mark of remembrance means a great deal to Davidson, anchoring his personal history even as he removes other designs.

Challenges and Reflections on the Laser Removal Process

Davidson described the tattoo removal experience as difficult, cautioning younger family members against making impulsive decisions about permanent ink.

“I’ve been filming it and showing all the younger people in my family to be like, ‘If you don’t like it, this is what you have to do,’”

he shared.

“But I’m excited ’cause I’m making changes. So I’m excited, but it sucks.”

His remarks underline the emotional and physical discomfort involved, portraying the process as a step toward personal growth despite its drawbacks.

Significance Behind the Hillary Clinton and Wu-Tang Clan Tattoos

Earlier, Davidson revealed his commitment to keeping his Hillary Clinton tattoo, which holds political and personal significance.

“I got Hilary after she lost [the 2016 election to Donald Trump]. Because, one, I know her personally and she’s a lovely lady. But also, she’s tough, man.”

A fan and friend of Clinton, he noted that the tattoo was both a tribute and encouragement amidst political challenges. When informed about his plans to remove some tattoos, Clinton reportedly reached out with concern, to which Davidson responded affirmatively about preserving her tattoo.

“She hit me up and was like, ‘You’re not removing me are you?’ I was like, ‘Of course not!’ Hillary stays.”

Davidson also intends to keep his Wu-Tang Clan tattoo, symbolizing an important cultural influence and an exception among his collection of ink. His decision to remove many tattoos arose partly from regret over the impulsive nature of getting them during a difficult period.

“My tattoos sucked. They were all drug-fueled,”

he admitted, describing his early 20s as a time when he accumulated ink rapidly.

“I got all my tattoos in the span of like 2 years. I was just looking at myself in the mirror in rehab and for the first time when I was sober and I was just like, ‘Oh no, what did I do?’”

Looking Ahead: Tattoo Choices Reflect Personal Growth

Pete Davidson’s journey with his tattoos offers insight into his evolving self-awareness and priorities. By choosing to remove certain designs while keeping those tied closely to family and meaningful relationships, Davidson highlights the lasting power of personal symbols. His openness about addiction struggles and the physical challenges of removing tattoos frames this decision as a turning point. Moving forward, preserving key markings like the ones representing his mother, father, Hillary Clinton, and Wu-Tang Clan underscores their irreplaceable significance in his life story.
