Robert Pattinson has begun filming his new Netflix project, Here Comes the Flood, a heist movie co-starring Denzel Washington, in New York this week. The star, known for his roles in The Batman and the Twilight Saga, shared this update while promoting his upcoming film Die My Love, set to release in theaters on November 7.

Here Comes the Flood follows a war veteran who plots a bank heist at his workplace alongside an international thief. To protect one of his coworkers, with whom he shares a romantic connection, the veteran devises a plan to steal the money and let the thief take the blame. Alongside Pattinson and Washington, Daisy Edgar-Jones also stars in the film, adding further talent to the cast.

Creative Team Behind the Film

The film is directed by Fernando Meirelles, notable for his work on Netflix’s The Two Popes, which earned him a BAFTA nomination. Meirelles also holds Oscar and Golden Globe nominations from previous films like City of God and The Constant Gardener. The screenplay was written by Simon Kinberg, who is recognized for his contributions to The Martian and several X-Men movies. Production is handled by Meirelles, Kinberg, and Audrey Chon.

Context of Cast and Production Timeline

This project marks Denzel Washington’s first time acting in a Netflix film, although he has produced notable films for the platform, including Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and The Piano Lesson. Pattinson, meanwhile, is no stranger to Netflix, having appeared in The King and The Devil All the Time. Production reportedly began in late September 2025, with filming expected to wrap up by January 2026. No release date has been confirmed yet.

During the promotional interview, Pattinson also shared brief information about his future work, confirming his involvement in Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey and upcoming movies Dune: Part Three, The Drama, and Primetime, all scheduled for release in 2026. He will return as Batman in The Batman: Part II, set for 2027, continuing his role as the iconic superhero.
