Stranger Things Cast Denies Rift Between Millie Brown, Harbour

At the recent Stranger Things season 5 premiere, the cast and creators dismissed claims of a David Harbour Millie Brown Rift after an unverified report suggested a bullying allegation. The incident, widely circulated over the weekend, alleged that Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment claim against David Harbour, raising questions about their working relationship on set. The Stranger Things creators and executive producers addressed these rumors while appearing together on the red carpet Thursday night, where Brown and Harbour were seen warmly embracing.

Creators Emphasize Long-Standing Family Atmosphere on Set

Ross Duffer, co-creator of Stranger Things, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the allegations, saying,

“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters,”

Ross told the outlet while standing alongside his brother Matt Duffer. He added,

“we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”

Producer and director Shawn Levy also addressed the situation during the premiere. Though he did not mention Brown or Harbour by name, Levy stressed his commitment to a secure work environment, stating,

“makes sure everyone feels safe and respected”

because

“at the end of the day, that’s the job.”

He continued,

“You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so,”

before adding,

“I’ve read a bunch of stories and they range from wildly inaccurate to…there’s so much noise around it. But the truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been bedrock.”

Past Comments Highlight Positive Dynamic Between Brown and Harbour

Before these rumors surfaced, both Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour discussed the complexity of their relationship during earlier interviews. At PaleyFest in 2018, Brown described the on-set emotions shared with Harbour, saying,

“We went through so many different emotions,”

and described their interactions as

“like father and daughter. We got angry at each other, we would express our feelings on and off the set, and…those scenes were so raw and real that the reward is the scenes.”

Harbour echoed similar sentiments in a 2021 interview on That Scene With Dan Patrick podcast, explaining that he

“always felt this kind of deep fatherly affection”

toward Brown. Their close rapport has been evident during public appearances, including Thursday’s premiere, where they smiled and conversed amicably while posing for photos and videos.

Additional Context Surrounding David Harbour

David Harbour recently attracted media attention following his estranged wife Lily Allen’s album release, West End Girl, which contains lyrics interpreted as references to alleged infidelity, although Harbour is not explicitly mentioned in the songs. Despite this, no official statements linked the album’s content to his personal life beyond speculation.

Looking Ahead to Stranger Things Season Finale

The first part of Stranger Things’ final season is scheduled to stream on Netflix starting November 26. As anticipation builds for the conclusion of the acclaimed sci-fi series, cast and production members continue to maintain a united front amid swirling rumors, underscoring their focus on delivering a strong ending to the show’s loyal audience.
