Actress Demi Moore recently revealed her personal view on the infamous UFO mystery associated with Roswell, New Mexico, during an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. While promoting her TV series Landman, Moore discussed growing up in Roswell and acknowledged that she believes something definitely happened there, linking her own past to the enduring intrigue surrounding the town.
Childhood in Roswell: Silence Surrounding the UFO Incident
Stephen Colbert was taken aback to learn that Moore was raised in a community famous for alien conspiracy theories. He exclaimed,
“I can’t believe I did not know this already.”
Moore responded with a laugh, sharing that her children often joke she might be part alien.
“I don’t know. Maybe it’s just because I was born in Roswell,”
she said.
Despite the town’s reputation, Moore revealed that as a child, nobody openly discussed the 1940s UFO crash. “Something definitely happened,” she confessed, but added,
“But when I was a kid, it was never spoken about. Never. It just was not ever talked about, not even in passing.”
She described this silence as if “it was a secret,” which only began to lift after various documentaries and a dedicated museum appeared, providing detailed accounts of how communication about the incident was allegedly suppressed.
“And then when the documentary came out and then the show, now there was a museum, and now there’s actually a somewhat comprehensive museum discussing how they shut all communication down about it,”
Moore explained.
Hints at Government Activities and New Projects
Colbert pressed her for more details about what might have occurred, and Moore noted,
“Well, you know, it’s the largest landing strip in America is in Roswell. Outside, so there’s a lot of testing that goes on.”
When Colbert joked that she might be risking trouble by revealing too much, she laughed and replied,
“It’s possible. I don’t want to be seen as illegal.”
Besides her reflections on Roswell, Moore also mentioned her involvement in a film about Betty and Barney Hill, a couple linked to one of the earliest alien abduction stories. Colbert remarked humorously,
“They’re not with us anymore, right? You know why? They talked about it.”
The Lasting Significance of the Roswell Mystery
Demi Moore’s remarks highlight the persistent fascination and underlying secrecy still surrounding the Roswell UFO incident. Her experiences reflect how a community can carry a concealed past while the world outside remains captivated. As Moore continues to explore related themes in her creative projects, public curiosity about Roswell’s truths and government involvement is unlikely to fade.
