Elizabeth Olsen has addressed questions about her role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, offering insights into her Elizabeth Olsen Avengers future. The actress, known for portraying Wanda Maximoff, spoke about her participation in the next Avengers installment and reflected on her journey within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
While promoting her film Eternity, Olsen told The Playlist,
“I’ve been really proud of what we’ve been able to make. Really proud. But I don’t have an answer for that.”
When pressed on whether fans should expect her Scarlet Witch character in Doomsday, she added,
“Well, I can’t. Honestly, I do wait. I want to see [her] return in this role because I think what they’ve done with her is really great, and I love the journey she’s taken.”
Despite her affection for playing Scarlet Witch, Olsen revealed there are no current multiverse plans involving her character. She said,
“I think it’s always a fun one to get to go back into, and I just have no idea how or when, for sure,”
suggesting she likely will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
Production Updates and Future Possibilities Within Marvel
Filming for Avengers: Doomsday concluded in mid-September 2025. Although Olsen confirmed she is not part of this movie, Marvel’s usual secrecy about cameos keeps the door open for future appearances. Some speculate she might follow a path similar to Andrew Garfield‘s involvement in the MCU, hinting fans should stay alert for her potential role in upcoming Avengers projects. The studio has scheduled Avengers: Doomsday to premiere on December 18, 2026, following the reshoots for Avengers: Secret Wars planned for spring 2026.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Shift Toward Independent Films
Beyond the Marvel franchise, Olsen is prioritizing auteur-led projects. She stars in Todd Solondz’s Love Child, a dark comedy centered on a boy who tries to bring his mother and her tenant closer following his father’s near-death experience.
She is also involved in Panos Cosmatos’ Flesh of the Gods, a vampire thriller set in a neon-soaked 1980s atmosphere, which features Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac alongside her. Olsen explained,
“I’m not really interested in just jumping from franchise to franchise,”
adding,
“I’m hoping to make things that are more reflective of culture and our time.”
Both projects are still underway and represent Olsen’s intentional move toward more personal and culturally nuanced storytelling, marking a notable shift in her career focus.
