George Clooney has shed new light on his infamous prank war with fellow actor Brad Pitt, offering fresh details about their ongoing mischief during an interview on The Graham Norton Show. The resurfaced conversation is making waves online, with Clooney describing just how far the rivalry has gone, revealing new anecdotes about the relentless back-and-forth between the two stars. The George Clooney prank war, which reportedly began on the set of a film, has become an entertaining saga among fans.
Clooney’s Insights Into Mischievous Acts on Set
When asked about the origins of their playful feud, Clooney provided a candid update on how both he and Pitt have been responsible for escalating the pranks. In the conversation, Clooney admitted,
“I’ve done some terrible things to Brad. Wait, Brad has done some terrible things to me. I don’t remember how.”
The exchange set the tone for the many tricks that would follow on and off the film set.
Clooney recounted how their playful antics started during the filming of Oceans 11, their first major movie together. He detailed his enjoyment of sneaking embarrassing bumper stickers onto unsuspecting friends’ cars, explaining how Pitt became an early target.
“We were doing Oceans 11; I think it was the first one, and I don’t remember what it was. One of my favourite things is to get those things that go around your license plate or a bumper sticker, because you never go to the back of your car and look, and put it on people’s cars because it’s funny, and they can ride around with some horrible and embarrassing bumper sticker. And I put a bumper sticker in the shape of a pot plant that said, ‘F*** cops’.”
Police Involvement and Further Escalation
The prank, as Clooney suggested, did not go unnoticed by authorities, with Pitt finding himself pulled over by the cops due to the sticker.
“There’s no way you don’t get pulled over. And he got pulled over. And it just kept going back and forth with that for a while.”
The ongoing exchanges kept both actors on edge, as each looked to outdo the other with increasingly daring tricks.

As the bumper sticker antics grew old, Clooney sought new ways to keep the prank war alive. He decided to impersonate Pitt through personalized stationery, sending confusing letters to other celebrities and especially actors they knew, under Pitt’s name. He even targeted Meryl Streep with one of these misdirected notes.
“Then it was, I had stationery made up with his name, and then I would send letters to other actors from Brad Pitt. He also sent a letter to Meryl Streep under Pitt’s name. ‘And I sent it to her with a note from Brad that said, ‘I hear you’re going to be doing the Iron Lady soon; this guy helped me with my dialect in Troy. I thought maybe this would help.’ And I sent it to Meryl, and she was very confused,”
he recalled of the incident, which left Streep bemused.
Clooney Confirms the Pranks Are Far From Over
Not one to be deterred by the magnitude of the pranks or their impact, Clooney showed no signs of stopping. He admitted to ramping up the prank war, warning of an upcoming stunt he believes may cross a legal boundary.
“I sent letters to lots and lots of people from Brad. I’m doing one now that I can’t tell you about, but in a year you’re going to hear that I’ve been arrested. I’m not kidding, because I think I’ve crossed the line. Yeah, it’s exciting. I have a wife; she’s a barrister. I’ll be fine.”
Clooney’s comments suggest that as long as he has legal expertise at home, the rivalry with Pitt will persist.
The continuous escalation between Clooney and Pitt keeps their industry peers and fans entertained, but their mischief occasionally catches the attention of real-world authorities like the cops. As anecdotes from The Graham Norton Show resurface, it is clear that the prank war has become a memorable part of both actors’ legacies, with future episodes eagerly anticipated and the boundary between humor and havoc constantly being tested. With key figures like Meryl Streep, the legal profession, and film sets playing unexpected roles in the saga, the feud between Clooney and Pitt shows no sign of slowing down.
