Jordan Peele and Sam Raimi Team Up for New Horror Movie

Jordan Peele and Sam Raimi are collaborating with Universal Pictures on a new religious horror project, thrilling fans of the genre with fresh developments in the Jordan Peele horror movie realm. The film draws inspiration from Dylan Clark’s viral short, “Portrait of a God,” which has already captivated millions online.

Collaboration Inspired by “Portrait of a God”

The upcoming film will likely center on Mia Reilly, a young character facing challenging questions about faith as she studies a mysterious painting of God. The original seven-minute short, released on YouTube in August 2022, quickly gained over 8.6 million views, highlighting its viral appeal and potential to be expanded into a feature-length story. Dylan Clark, the original writer-director, is also involved in the larger production, and his cameo in the short gives a hint at the kind of unsettling atmosphere fans might expect.

Production Team and Creative Forces

Jordan Peele will produce the film through his Monkeypaw Productions, working alongside Win Rosenfeld, who previously collaborated with Peele on titles like “Candyman” and “Nope.” Sam Raimi, known for “The Evil Dead” and

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,”

will produce with his own company, Ghost House Pictures, along with Joe Russo, who will co-write the movie with Clark and contribute to production with Romel Adam. This combination brings together a diverse set of talents experienced in both innovative horror and studio blockbusters.

Current and Upcoming Related Projects

Before focusing on “Portrait of God,” Sam Raimi will launch another horror-thriller called “Send Help.” This film stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien as Linda Liddle and Bradley Preston, two coworkers who crash-land on a remote island during a business trip. Their battle for survival forces the pair to navigate not only physical threats but also evolving power dynamics between the two, blending dark comedy with tense horror elements.

Jordan Peele’s Film Slate and Changes Ahead

Meanwhile, Jordan Peele is also in development on his untitled fourth feature film. Though it was initially scheduled for release at Christmas 2024, shifting timelines due to industry strikes and other circumstances have led to its removal from Universal’s planned calendar. The next steps for Peele’s directorial efforts remain uncertain, but his ongoing activity in producing new works signals continued engagement with audiences seeking original horror stories.

This latest partnership between Peele and Raimi represents a blend of distinctive voices in contemporary horror, likely to generate anticipation among fans. The adaptation of a viral short film into a feature may introduce new talent and themes to the genre, ensuring that excitement remains high as more details become public.
